NLC India Limited operates in the mining and power generation business in India. It operates in two segments, Mining and Power Generation. The company generates power through thermal, wind, and solar power plants. The company also mines for lignite and coal. It operates various open cast lignite mines in Neyveli, in the state of Tamil Nadu and in Barsingsar, state of Rajasthan; and an open cast mine, Talabira II and III with a mining capacity of 20 MTPA in Odisha. NLC India Limited sells its raw lignite to small scale industries for use it as fuel in their production activities. The company was formerly known as Neyveli Lignite Corporation Limited and changed its name to NLC India Limited in April 2016. The company was incorporated in 1956 and is based in Neyveli, India.
